A year of sunsets, 2008
Jim Bumgardner collected over 35,000 flickr photos tagged sunset over the course of a year and graphed them on a time chart, revealing a sine wave.  The highest point in the wave corresponds with the earliest time of sunset, and the shortest day of the year, around winter solstice, while the lowest point corresponds with the summer solstice.

100 years of world cuisine

overall, brilliant concept. the floating spoons are slightly jarring, & the ‘cuisine’ carries overtones of cannibalism (good? appropriate?)… but a neat way of presenting comparisons, for sure.

Links relating to Google Sites & Templates:
the image above is probably my favourite, from Over the Top Sites.
The best advice on modifying & using Google Sites was the Google Sites FAQ on the ‘unofficial Google sites help’ site.
Beyond that, some useful tips were provided by:
the Google Docs blog spotlight on Google Sites
the same blog’s get started article
the Google Sites discussion forum
gethemes, which is a google site itself, has some tips & links to some nicely designed sites created by gethemes
nvnews discusses creating a custom themed site (fairly rudimentary) in 15 mins…
Overall though I find it a little odd that most of the news found on google regarding google sites is from 2009, & hardly anything seems to exist after that… has this not caught on?
